Zoom is an amazing application that is super simple to use - it allows us to connect to Academy members all around the globe with the click of a button. We use this application for our live calls. That said, there are some things to know while you are using Zoom:

  1. Please be certain that before clicking on any Zoom meeting link that you are clicking on the link at the appointed time and date of the meeting. If, for example, we have a meeting scheduled for Monday at 12pm PDT (that's West Coast time) on October 29th, and you click on the link at 6pm PDT on Monday, October 29th, then you would not be able to join the meeting, as the meeting by that time would have concluded. Be certain that you are clicking on the meeting click at the correct time and date - otherwise, it is likely you will not come into the meeting, or at the very least, you may come into the meeting late. All of our Live Calls are recorded for you should you not be able to attend.

  1. If you are using Zoom from a desktop or laptop computer, all you need to do is click the link we provide - that's it! Unless your computer's operating system is WAAAAAY out of date (meaning, if you're using a computer from 10 years ago), you should be able to simply click the link to come into the meeting. If, however, you are trying to join the call from a smartphone or a tablet, then you first need to download the app for free from the Apple App store, or the Google Play Store (if you have an android or non Apple product, you would download the app from the Google Play store).

  1. Once you've downloaded the app, all you have to do is click the same link. A new window will open and you'll be asked to enter in your name and email address. You can enter in any name or email address you like - this is for when you come into the meeting, so that if you post a comment or raise your hand, the Academy team and fellow Academy members can see who you are. Of course, some people choose to put a different name and email down, which is fine; the point is that you do need to fill out these two fields to some degree, in order to come into the meeting.

  1. Now, if you did download the app and you still were being asked to enter in a code after clicking the link, you would need to do the following:

  • Close all the apps on your phone
  • Then, restart your phone
  • Once your phone is back on, then click the link for the call - this should bring you into the meeting with no issues. Without getting too technical, the reason for this is that your phone or tablet may be remembering that you tried to access the call prior to downloading the app. Even after downloading the app, you still may need to "reboot" your phone or tablet's memory, such that it "forgets" you tried to access the call prior to downloading the app.
