REFINED VARIETY IS KEY (Suggested for Stage Three; Learning)
Pamela Beer’s beautiful, lush paintings are full of abstract marks and lots of saturated color. In this Art Critique Pamela wanted to find some consistency in her work and to learn why some of her paintings are working better than others.
In this video you will learn:
– Heightening the variety—pushing the differences between things—really helps the clarity in a painting
– When you are stuck, take areas of your work and push the value contrast
– Decide which colors you want us to see—choose one or two stars and let the rest take a supporting role
– Don’t stop too early… be sensitive to how shapes or colors are different, and if they’re different enough
