STAY IN THE JOY (Suggested for Stage Four; Integration)

As what often happens in many of our dual critiques, we learned that both artists faced similar challenges in their work. Karen Lehrer and Magdalena Bogart each found they were really enjoying their process… to a point. Then they became stuck and bored. In this interview, Nicholas guides each of these artists with ways to keep not only themselves engaged, but also the viewer.

In this video you will learn:
– When we lose the joy and risk in our process we tend to make work that is uninspiring.
– When something is full of redundancies, it takes our energy away.
– You can paint quickly all the way through — you don’t have to slow down or get bogged down.
– Thinking and painting more simply can have a bigger impact than painting a whole lot of things.
– It actually gets easier when you eliminate what you don’t like and show us what you love.
