DREW BROPHY (Suggested for Stage Four: Integration)

Drew Brophy desperately loved two things in high school. Surfing and drawing. But that was all discounted and discouraged when his college advisor said “You can’t just surf and draw all day”. It turns out, after much persistence, Drew did exactly that. Come listen to the inspiring unfolding of this artist’s life. A story of wild adventure, exotic destinations, big wave surfing and radical generosity. The beauty, kindness and wisdom of this artist and his mission will undoubtedly inspire your own. It did mine. – NW

Highlights from the interview:

• Drew firmly believes artists see the world differently than most people.
• His lifelong quest is to be happy, try to fit into the world and be useful.
• It’s never been a better time to be an artist. We can reach people and get things done in a way never before available.
• Finding his medium – Posca pens – completely changed his work and simplified his process.
• He only had one plan in life – there was never a Plan B.
• Art is much more important than people realize is. It’s not interpreting things. It’s actually allowing people to think differently—articulate things that someone else can’t see for themselves.
